5 Sides to Serve Kids with Macaroni and Cheese
Happy Friday friends! School has been in for 2 full weeks now and we finally feel like we are getting our after school routine down! One major component to our daily after school routine is getting some food! My boys come home STARVING and they pretty much eat a second lunch. One of their favorites is macaroni and cheese and today I’m sharing 5 simple sides to serve kids with macaroni and cheese!
A couple of days each week my boys beat me home by about 10 minutes, because I have to run and get their sister from preschool. So, a few minutes before I leave, I make my kids some Macaroni and Cheese in the microwave and put together a few sides!
Here are my quick go-to’s:
Horizon Class Mac Cups
Broccoli – I buy the steamer bags
Horizon Honey Grahams
Organic Bacon – precooked (then reheat in microwave)
Horizon Organic Chocolate Low-fat Milk
I literally just grab some bowls, put the sides in them and have them out on the table ready for them to eat right when they walk in!
The Horizon Organics Classic Mac is at the perfect temperature when they walk in the door! Then they can eat and relax for a few minutes until I get home and we need to do homework!
Also, all the sides are complimentry to the cheesiness of the Classic Mac! I mean really aren’t Broccoli and Grapes generally preferred with cheese anyways? And we love topping our macaroni and cheese with Bacon!
I love creating this after school snack tray, because it keeps my kiddos out of the pantry and helps me make sure that they are keeping a more healthy lifestyle. Not to mention Horizon Organic is a brand that I can trust. And as an added bonus, all of the food is stuff that I feel comfortable snacking on during the day. So, anything the kids don’t finish, I do!
