5 Things to do at Night to Make Your Mornings Go Smoother

Hey friends! One of my major goals this year was to have happier mornings! My kids school starts at 8:00 am, which is early guys! If they take the bus, they have to be out my front door at 7:15 am. Last year we would often times have more raised voices happening in the morning then anybody wanted! So, this year I decided that I was going to do more prepping at night and it has seriously changed my world! Today, I am going to share with you the 5 Things to do at Night to Make Your Mornings Go Smoother! I promise these are game changers friends!
1) HAVE AN ENJOYABLE EVENING.
Having a bedtime routine that we STICK to helps our evenings run smoothly, which results in all of us being much happier! When we have a happy evening, we tend to wake up happier! It’s a win-win-win for everyone! I like my kids to be asleep between 8:30-9:00, so we generally start our routine about 7:30 p.m. These Bedtime Routine Printables are a great way to get kids started with a bedtime routine!
I find that reading time with my kids is what I look forward to the most! It’s a time where they can talk to me about their day, their current interests and then of course where we get to read!
My daughter is still loving to read and play with all The Moodsters products! It’s a great organic way to be able to discuss emotions and feelings. My daughter is 3 and really starting to want to show and express everything she’s feeling and not always in a good way! haha! It’s been good to be able to validate her feelings and to talk about how she should handle them and properly express them! She loves reenacting all the feelings the Moodsters are feeling!
She is also still loving her activity book! She’s filled it up and just looks at it over and over! I need to order her another one! Check out The Moodsters Website to see all their products! 2) PACK LUNCHES.
My oldest has me pack his lunch a majority of the time, so when I can get his lunch packed (or most of it) the night before it helps my mornings a lot! He generally just likes a sandwich, so I’ll make the sandwich and just leave it in the refrigerator until morning. Then I’ll get his sides packed into a container or directly into his lunch box and have it on the counter. In the morning I’ll add his sandwich from the fridge.
3) PREPARE/PLAN AN EASY OR MAKE AHEAD BREAKFAST.
Don’t be afraid to keep breakfast super simple! There is nothing wrong with toast and some fruit for breakfast! Or just a bowl of cold cereal! My kids are generally happy with just a bowl of Fruit Loops!
Also, make ahead breakfasts was a concept that I put off trying for a long time. And now, I have no idea why I waited so long! You can search make ahead breakfast recipes on Pinterest and you’ll come up with 1000 recipes!
Here are a few of my favorites:
4) SHOWER & PICK OUTFITS.
I know this concept seems so easy, but it can save you quite some time in the morning! My kids like to take long showers and if I let them shower in the morning, then we’ve added AT LEAST 15 minutes! And picking out your clothes can save you a few extra minutes too, especially if you have a picky dresser!
By doing these two things, you’ve saved yourself 20-30 minutes in the morning! And if you’re anything like me, you need it!
5) GET BACKPACKS, COATS & SHOES READY.
You know we’ve all had those mornings where we just can’t find the shoes that we need! Well, now it’s time to eliminate those! Just have your kids take 5 minutes and make sure everything is together and in their backpack. Then have it, their shoes and coat laying in a pile by the door!
