Coral, Aqua, and Gold Tween Room
My friend’s daughter, Elisabeth, wanted to redo her room and they enlisted my help! Elisabeth has great taste and she wanted the colors coral, aqua, and gold.
First we painted her walls Benjamin Moore Horizon. We wanted a light color that would allow her white furniture to pop. Since Elisabeth is only 10 years old I know she will change her mind in a few years about the colors and patterns. The more neutral wall color will make it easier to change up in a few years. Elisabeth really wanted gold polka dot’s on her walls so with the help of Lynnette at Janey Mac we got 100 perfect gold polka dots for her walls.
We bought her bedspread at Ikea and then we bought fabric at JoAnn’s so that we could make pillowcases, a bed skirt, and the curtains. It was so easy! All straight seams!
I did the measuring and cutting and Elisabeth did almost all of the sewing!
Her bed skirt is actually a faux skirt. We just sewed it so it would hang and cover the front and then using Velcro we attached it the underside of the bed. It looks great and was so simple to make!
We also made curtains for both her window and she also has a secret room that we made some matching curtains for.
Elisabeth is very crafty and she needed a good space to keep organized and get crafty. We bought the desk, chair, and storage cart at Ikea too. To give it more character we created an Ombre on the front of the storage cart.
I created these prints to go above her desk. You can download them at the bottom of this post.
She had a oak mirror that she got from a yard sale and with a can of aqua spray paint we gave it new life!
I also made a couple of inspirational prints for her walls.
