Getting Kids to Eat Healthy

My kids looooove sweets! Unfortunately, they are just like their Mama! My husband, on the other hand, loves healthy food. Not because he’s trying to eat healthy, he just genuinely enjoys healthier food better. I’m trying hard to teach my boys to be more like their Dad!. Here are a few ideas we do in our home to try to get our kids to eat healthier:

  • When it comes to snack time its fruit or veggies first. If they eat a fruit or veggie then they can have something after that.
  • At dinnertime we only allow milk and water to drink. That way they don’t fill up on juice and soda which are both sweet during dinner.
  • One of the best tricks I have found came in the form of these 12-oz. Squeeze Bottles.

I put salad dressing in them and my kids love to eat salad now that they can squirt out their own dressing. I also use them to get them to eat veggies by drawing designs for them. They love to see what I’m going to come up with next for them to dip into.

It works wonders! They dip carrots, cucumbers, broccoli, celery, lettuce and they enjoy eating it! I draw their names, silly faces, characters, any sort of funny design. They love the anticipation while I’m drawing and they cant see.

They still love their sweets, but hopefully they are learning to crave veggies and fruit too!

Happy dipping!
