Self Esteem Books

Last year John and I decided we wanted to give our kids something really special for Christmas – self esteem! There are so many things that make kids doubt themselves and we thought it would be great to give them a gift that would last all year and that they couldn’t grow out of. We really wanted to be sure our sons knew just how great we think they are!

We came up with the idea to make them a book all about themselves from A-Z. We called the books the A, B, C’s of Me. Here is Caleb’s book from last year…

I made the files in Photoshop and then uploaded them into Snapfish and created an 8×8 hardback book. Now I’m not going to lie, the books were kind of a flop when our boys opened them up last year surrounded by new toys. But over the last year they have become their most prized possession1 It’s so cute to hear them use the words we describe them as in the book with other people. They have really internalized the good things from their books and they love to look at the pictures of themselves.

This year we created the 1,2, 3’s of Me! Here is Davis’ book for this year!

My goal is to make them a book each year, so eventually they will have a library all about how great they are! Plus, it’s a great scrapbook for each year since I try to use pictures from big events and the milestones throughout the year.

I can’t wait for the boys to open them this year!

We now offer the books for free download here.

  • >Great idea!
    Thanks for sharing.
Saw your linky at the Sunday Showcase, so wanted to pop by to say hello.
Hope that you will come by my blog, Sunrise Learning Lab. We read some cute books and discussed the concept of being helpful, which could tie in with the concept of self esteem, as children generally love to be helpers to their parents.
    Have a happy week!
