Hello Over The Big Moon readers!! This is Shonee and you can find me crafting and creating over at Hawthorne and Main. I am so excited to be here with you guys sharing a fun 4th of July 3D star decor idea!! This one is so easy and looks amazing!! Don’t forget to enter the $100 Gift Card Giveaway that is a part of Over the Big Moon’s 4th of July Series!
For this project you will need:
-paper stars- free PDF at bottom
First you will need a board. This is a piece of mdf that I had cut to size. I originally used this board for a valentines day project. Why not get two uses out of it, right!? All I did was flip it over and used the back for this project… Love it!!
Start by painting the entire board white. After the paint dries use some painters tape to add stripes. Next paint the board blue. Remove the tape before the paint drys so that the lines are crisp.
While the paint is drying print out the stars. You can find the link for them at the bottom!
Once you have the stars printed out, cut on the inside line of each of them. Using a score board score each star starting at the tip and going all the way down. You should have 5 score lines per star, one at each star point.
Next it is time to fold the stars. The fold lines that go though the points of the starts should be folded up. All of the other lines should be folded down. See the image below.
Arrange the stars on the board to determine where you want them to go. Grab your hammer and some finishing nails. Flatten the star out and use the hammer to nail in a finish nail. You only need the nail to go in just enough to stay in place.
After the nail is in reshape the star so that it looks 3D again. Continue until all of your stars are nailed in.
