Halloween is near and I’m excited that I get to help in my daughters preschool class for their Halloween party this year! I had this idea just pop in my head a few weeks ago and I immediately got so excited and had to try to make them right away! So, when it worked out, just like I pictured in my head, I was super stoked! Today I am sharing how to make these super simple DIY Halloween Posterboard Placemats!!
These are SUPER SUPER simple to make! You basically just need a Cricut Maker (or Cricut Explore). Or you could also make these by hand by using a Craft Punch too! You would just have to measure the spacing by hand and also write the words by hand or by using a stencil!
Here’s how to do them with your Cricut Maker:
DIY HALLOWEEN POSTER BOARD PLACEMATS
Neon Poster Board (precut or cut to 11×14)
I found a set of neon poster boards at Walmart that was a 5-pack that was precut 11×14. But, you could also buy full sized poster boards and cut them down. Standard poster boards are 22×28. So, with each standard sized poster board, you should be able to cut it in half and get 2 placemats!
Open the following file that will open in Cricut Design Space:
When this opens, you can customize it or proceed to have them write and cut just as I’ve designed them. You could easily customize the saying on the side of the placemat to anything you want!
When your file is ready, hit MAKE IT in the top righthand corner. Follow their instructions.
Make sure you’re using a 12×24 Standard Mat or Strong Grip Mat to place your 11×14 Poster Board on. Also, make sure you’re placing it all the way in the top left hand corner.
Have your Cricut pen(s) handy to place in your Cricut Maker (I used black or gold depending on the color of poster board) when prompted.
Then have it write and cut! Remove from the mat and you’re done!
So so easy, right? I’m literally obsessed!
I love so much that they are disposable! Makes clean up super easy after messy kids use them!
I found some way cute disposable tableware at my local Zurchers, but I’m loving these few sets on Amazon. I suggest sticking with 5″-7″ plates, so they fit good on the placemats!
I also grabbed black disposable silverware to pair with the plates. I loved the idea of pairing the table settings with bottle sodas like Fanta or Sprite! Then just use some washi tape to tape a fun paper straw on the side! It dresses it up so cute!
The possibilities are endless with this simple tutorial! You can easily choose any color palette or saying to put in the placemat to make it work for your party!
Hope you love this as much as I do!
