Wood Burned Coasters

Hello loves! Here at illistyle we have been so productive recently, catching up on everything that has been falling by the wayside during the active summer months.  Little home projects that I keep saying “Oh, I should do that,” are finally getting done.  One thing I have known we needed for a while is coasters.  We have two wood topped end tables in our living room and they are getting water rings on them because I have neglected to buy coasters.  Well, not so much neglected, as haven’t found any I liked.  So I did what any self-respecting crafter would do: I made my own!

And it was surprisingly simple.  Since I love the verse Micah 6:8 I decided that the daily visual reminder of that verse would be good for me.  You can make whatever you want with this, but if you want the same verse, I have included the template for you.

Here’s what you need:

4 Birch Coasters (available here)
Wood Burning Tool (I use this one)
Silhouette Cameo
Repositionable Vinyl
This Silhouette Studio Template of Micah 6:8

I designed the above Silhouette file (which is free for download and personal use – for all other use please email april{at}illistyle.com), and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out onto my repositionable vinyl.  I then placed the cutouts onto the birch coasters

and then used my wood burner to color inside the lines. (Please be careful with the wood burner and keep it away from children, it makes the hot glue gun look like and ice ray… this bad boy gets HOT!)
