Extra Cheesy Layered Mac & Cheese

This recipe takes Mac and Cheese to a whole new level! It's extra cheesy and tasty that the whole family will love!

  • 2 boxes of Horizon Organic Cheesy Deluxe Mac and Cheese cooked as directed on the package
  • 6 slices of Asiago Cheese I have a hard time finding Asiago shredded, but you're welcome to use shredded too
  • 3/4 cup Muenster Cheese
  • 1 package of Cheesy mixture from the boxed Mac and Cheese
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 1/3 cup butter
  • 1 cup shredded cheese your choice
  • 3-4 pieces of bacon cooked


  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  • Take your two boxes of Horizon Organics Cheesy Deluxe Mac and Cheese and get the noodles boiling.
  • Take 1 1/2 sleeves of butter crackers and put them in a Ziplock bag and smash them. I like to use rolling pin. You could also use a food processor if you’d prefer. After they're all crushed, add 1/3 cup of shredded cheese (you can choose your favorite kind - I prefer White Cheddar)! Melt 1/3 cube of butter and add it to your butter crackers and cheese.
  • Take a 9×13 pan and spray it with cooking spray. Then push the crust mixture into the bottom of the pan!
  • Once the noodles are done, divide them up into 3 batches. It should be apex 2 cups per batch.
  • For the first layer: Take 6 slices of Asiago cheese and cut it into strips and layer them on top of the crust. Then layer the 2 cups of noodles. Then sprinkle more of the Asiago Cheese on top of the noodles.
  • For the second layer: Take 2 cups of freshly cooked noodles that are still HOT and mix in a heaping 1/2-3/4 cup of Muenster Cheese and mix it around to get it to melt. Then spread it on top of the bottom of layer!
  • For the 3rd layer: Take the White Cheddar Cheese packet that came in the box and add it to 2 cups of noodles. I only had to use about 3/4 of the packet. Spread this noodle layer on top of the other two noodle layers!
  • In a heavy sauce pan add 1 cup milk, 1 cube butter and cook just until the butter melts on high heat. Once melted lower the heat to medium and slowly add a 1/2 cup flour stirring constantly until thickened. Once the mixture is thickened, add 1/2 c. shredded cheese (your choice) and stir until melted.
  • Pour the mixture over your noodles. Allow it disperse through the noodle mixture.
  • Cook the 3-4 pieces of bacon and cut up into little pieces. Sprinkle the bacon on top of Mac and Cheese!
  • Cook for approx 30 minutes and enjoy!!
