I spent 2 wonderful years living in Seattle. If there was one thing I loved about living there it was the fresh berries everywhere! They grow like weeds! Johns Grandparents use to live on Lake Washington and would make this ice cream with the fresh berries around their house. It is so easy and I love that you don’t have to mess with ice and salt. The texture is amazing! With just this base you can make so many flavors but so far this one has been our favorite!
You need 4 ingredients:
1 pint Whipping Cream
I can Sweet and Condensed milk
Berries – I have also used frozen berries. I just pulsed them in my food processor so they were in smaller pieces so it was easy to eat as ice cream.
Golden Oreo’s – I used about 20
First whip the cream.
I like smaller berry pieces so they don’t get icy in the ice cream or are hard to chew. With these fresh raspberries I chopped them into fourths and I used two small containers.
Meanwhile assign someone to smash your golden Oreo’s. I put John and Caleb in charge of smashing them and they had a little fun!
Add the sweet and condensed milk to the whipping cream.
Add the berries and the cookie crumbles too.
Mix it lightly. You can simply fold them in a few times and then you will get ribbons of the berries and cookies through out.
Pour into a loaf pan and put in the freezer.
We also made plain cookies and cream with Oreos and it was so delicious!
We cant wait to keep experimenting with different flavors! But I will never use an ice cream maker again!
