I have found the perfect recipe! It’s a slow cooker pork that is not too sweet or spicy, but totally still full of flavor. It’s perfect for salads, sandwiches, tacos, or just to eat plain. I found the recipe here but have tweaked it just little bit for our tastes.

I watch for pork to go on sale and when it does I buy a bunch, crock pot it, and freeze it. Then if I am in a pinch during the day I can grab some meat out of the freezer and it’s ready to go by the time I’m ready to cook dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Pork shoulder I have used both bone in and boneless
  • 1 onion coarsely chopped
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 oranges juice only

Instructions

  • Create a rub with the olive oil, oregano, and cumin. Rub all over the pork. Place in crock pot with the fat side up. Add onions, garlic, salt, pepper, and then squeeze the two oranges over the pork.
  • Allow to cook on high for 4-6 hours or on low for 8-10 hours or until meat is falling apart. Pull meat out of crock pot and shred. Serve and enjoy!
