This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
Hey friends! As some of you are aware, I moved this last year back down to Southern Utah. I almost immediately met 2 women on my street who have become some of my very best friends! Without them, I’m sure that we wouldn’t have come to feel so at home in our new neighborhood. One of the women, Sarah, is a major coffee lover! So, I decided to make her a Coffee Themed gift for Christmas this year!
Gift for a Coffee Lover
Today I am going to share with you how to make this super cute Coffee themed t-shirt and also some Coffee themed drink coasters using Cricut Infusible Ink and my Cricut Explore Air 2! I love my Cricut Explore Air 2 — it is so universal and perfect to use when cutting Vinyl, Iron On, Cardstock, Infusible Ink and more!
Although, these two things alone would be plenty to gift the coffee lover in your life, here are some other fun items that you could add to a gift basket:
- Coffee
- Coffee Mugs
- Mini Coffee Spoons
- French Press
- Coffee Socks — you could also make these using your Cricut and this tutorial!
- Coffee Candy
How to Cut Infusible Ink on the Cricut Explore Air 2
For todays project I’m using my Cricut Explore Air 2 and Cricut Infusible Ink! You can cut Infusible Ink projects on the Cricut Explore Air 2 and the Cricut Maker using the Fine-Point Blade.
- Remove the Infusible Ink Sheets from the box.
- Place the Infusible Ink on the Standard Grip mat INK SIDE UP! Use your brayer to make sure it’s placed well on the mat.
- Choose Infusible Ink for the product type in the Design Space process.
- Cut using the Fine-Point Blade in your Cricut Explore Air 2.
- Carefully remove the sheet of Infusible Ink from the mat and weed.
Now let’s get crafting!! If this is your first time working with Infusible Ink — then I’m so excited for you! You are going to die when you see the Infusible Ink come to life! The colors of the Infusible Ink Sheets are so dull and boring, then you add some heat to them and they come to life!
How to Make Infusible Ink Coasters
These Coffee themed Drink Coasters turned out so fun! I was shocked with how professional they looked — my husband totally thought I bought them at the store!!
To start, open up the Cricut Design Space for the Coffee Themed Coasters HERE!
They’re current sized to fit the Cricut Infusible Ink Coasters. At this time you can change the colors on the designs if you want. I currently have two designs set to cut on black, one on green and one on the Cabbage Rose Infusible Ink. Feel free to change the colors if you want. When ready, hit ‘MAKE IT’ in the top right hand corner.
Verify the designs separated onto the mats correctly. I moved my 2 black designs a little further a part then they defaulted to. You will also need to MIRROR the designs on all the mats (just like Iron On Vinyl). Once that is done, hit ‘CONTINUE’ in the bottom right hand corner.
Select your machine from the drop down menu. If using an Explore Air 2, set the dial on your machine to custom and then on your computer select your material to Infusible Ink.
Next, put the Infusible Ink on the Standard Grip Mat INK SIDE UP. I love to use my brayer to make sure the Infusible Ink is on my mat good.
Load the mat into your Explore Air 2 or Maker machines. When the ‘C’ button is flashing, press it.
Repeat for each mat.
Weed the Infusible Ink Designs. This is done easiest using your hands and if needed use a weeder tool.
Wipe the coasters down with the lint cloth included in each box of Infusible Ink. Apply the designs to the Infusible Ink Coasters. It’s recommended to use Heat Resistant Tape to hold the design down good on the coaster.
Next up, get your EasyPress 2 preheating! Use the EasyPress Heat Settings Guide to verify the temperature and timing needed. Currently it states to heat your EasyPress 2 to 400 degrees and to apply heat for 240 seconds!
Get your EasyPress Mat and place a piece of cardstock on it and place your coaster DESIGN SIDE DOWN. Put the parchment paper down on top of the upside down coaster. Then apply your heated EasyPress 2 for the recommended time.
Allow to cool completely before removing the design. The coasters can get VERY hot and can take up to 5 mins to cool!
I can’t wait to make more coasters — but this time for MYSELF!! haha!
How to Make an Infusible Ink T-Shirt
Making an Infusible Ink Shirts is VERY similar to making coasters! But, let’s still walk through the process!
CUTTING INSTRUCTIONS
- Open up the Cricut Design Space for the Coffee Themed Shirt Design HERE!
- The design is current sized to fit the Mens Medium shirt. I chose that shirt, because I liked the round neck line of the mens shirts for this design. Resize it to fit the shirt you’re planning on using. Feel free to change the colors if you want. When ready, hit ‘MAKE IT’ in the top right hand corner.
- Verify the design looks right on the mat and MIRROR the design on all the mats (just like Iron On Vinyl). Once that is done, hit ‘CONTINUE’ in the bottom right hand corner.
- Select your machine from the drop down menu. If using an Explore Air 2, set the dial on your machine to custom and then on your computer select your material to Infusible Ink.
- Next, put the Infusible Ink on the Standard Grip Mat INK SIDE UP. I love to use my brayer to make sure the Infusible Ink is on my mat good.
- Load the mat into your Explore Air 2 or Maker machines. When the ‘C’ button is flashing, press it.
- Weed the Infusible Ink Designs. This is done easiest using your hands and if needed use a weeder tool.
INFUSIBLE INK SHIRT APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Get your EasyPress Mat and place a piece of cardstock on it. Then place the layered items inside your shirt.
Use a lint roller and go over your shirt. If you press the shirt to make sure there are no wrinkles, allow it to cool completely prior to applying the design. Apply the design to your shirt. Put the parchment paper down over the Infusible Ink design.
Next up, get your EasyPress 2 preheating! Use the EasyPress Heat Settings Guide to verify the temperature and timing needed. Currently it states to heat your EasyPress 2 to 385 degrees and to apply heat for 40 seconds!
Then apply your heated EasyPress 2 for the recommended time.
Lastly, remove the EasyPress and peel while the design is still warm.
