These DIY Funny Saying Socks for Kids will have your kids laughing! I’ve sharing 3 designs — Stranger Things, Gaming and YouTube themed. Easy to make with your Cricut and EasyPress!
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
Hey friends! My son saw some of these funny sayings socks in the store a few months ago and has been asking me to make some for him! When I got the new EasyPress Mini a few weeks ago, I knew it would be perfect to throw these together! Because I was making these for my son, I decided to go with Stranger Things, Gaming and YouTube for the theme. A few of his current favorites!
They were sooooo quick and easy to make! I am literally obsessed with the new Cricut EasyPress Mini friends! It’s not only adorable, but sooooo convenient and easy to use! It’s perfect for small and/or unique projects that would be awkward to use the bigger EasyPress’s on — like hats, shoes, shirt sleeves, cuffs, and pockets. I’ve even seen it used to add Iron On to stuffed animals!!
It works very similar to the other EasyPress’s, but instead of having an exact temperature chosen, you just one of 3 settings — low, medium or high temperature. But, like all EasyPress’s the heat is dispersed evenly all over the entire heat plate! Which produces amazing results!

DIY FUNNY SOCKS
Now, let’s get onto the Funny Saying Socks for Kids tutorial!
FUNNY SOCKS DESIGN SPACE FILE
Open the DIY Kids Funny Socks Design Space File and hit customize.
This is the time that you’ll be able to amend or resize the designs. Currently some aspects of the designs are ‘attached,’ so you may need to detach them to amend them. If all you’re needing to do is resize the designs, then there is no need to detach any of the designs.
I currently have the designs sized no more than 2.15″ wide or 3.5″ long, because that is what worked for my sons size of socks. Flatten the socks you plan on using, and measure the area you want the design to go. Then resize the designs to what you need.
CUT THE IRON ON VINYL
Once everything is ready to go, then it ‘MAKE IT’ in the top right hand corner.
The first thing you want to check is that the designs all look right on the mats. Then mirror the images on each mat (if you’re using multiple colors of Iron On). When cutting any kind of Iron On Vinyl, you ALWAYS need to mirror the design. I also like to space the designs out a little more on the mat. Then hit ‘Continue’ in the bottom right hand corner.
Choose your Cricut Machine and materials on the screen. Place the SportFlex Iron On on your Standard Mat SHINY SIDE DOWN. Load your mat and when the ‘C’ button starts flashing, then hit it to cut your design.
WEED THE EXCESS SPORTFLEX IRON ON VINYL FROM YOUR DESIGN
After your design is cut, remove it from the mat. Use your scissors and weeding tool from the Essential Tool Kit to cut around your designs and weed the excess SportFlex Iron On from around your designs.
Take out your EasyPress Mini (or any EasyPress) and the EasyPress Mat. You can determine the heat level and time by going to the EasyPress Heat Settings Guide.
APPLY THE SPORTFLEX IRON ON VINYL
Flatten the bottom of your socks and use your EasyPress Mini to preheat the area you’ll be placing the SportFlex Iron On to.
Once the area is flat and preheated, place your design. For this project, I was instructed to put the EasyPress Mini on medium heat 25 seconds.
Allow the iron on to cool completely and carefully remove the plastic protective sheeting. If at anytime the Iron On is pulling up off the sock, just place the clear plastic sheeting back down. Then apply heat for another 10-15 seconds to that area. Allow to cool completely and try removing the plastic sheet again!
Repeat for each sock!
SOOO easy guys!
I can’t wait to add some Iron On to some tall socks for my other son and also my daughter!
WHY USE SPORTFLEX IRON ON?
SportFlex Iron On is perfect to use on any material that has STRETCH to it! It’s specifically perfect for Nylon and Polyester. Considering those are two of the main materials used in Nike socks, it was the obvious choice! After it’s is applied it can with take more stretch and pull than standard iron on!
