On Friday I shared my Elegant Farmhouse Thanksgiving Tablescape with Wood Slice Place Cards and today I wanted to share with you how I quickly made these DIY Leather Napkin Rings last week for that Thanksgiving table! I of course used my Cricut Maker, but you could easily make these just using a rotary blade too. I’m just OCD and prefer to have everything cut perfectly!
The great thing about this DIY is that it is super easy to make a bunch at once! So, you can create a nice sized collection for hardly any additional cost!
DIY LEATHER NAPKIN RING
Supplies:
- Leather or Faux Leather
- Cricut Maker or Rotary Blade
- Button Studs or Snaps (with snap kit)
- Leather Hole Punch
Instructions:
The size you want to cut your napkin rings will matter on how big of a napkin you’ll be using (and the thickness of the material)! I made my some linen napkins (tutorial coming Friday) and so I just took a sewing measure tape and get a rough estimate of what size you need.
My leather napkin rings are 5.5″ w x 1.5″ h.
If you’re cutting these by hand, then you can measure, mark and cut one and then just use it as a template for the rest of yours.
If you’re using a Cricut Maker, then click HERE to use my file. You’ll notice if you click ‘customize’ that I have them laid out a specific way. That’s because I did find if I put them too close together that the leather would bubble when the machine was cutting them. So, I spaced them a little further apart.
Also, when cutting thick materials on the Cricut, you can only load 11″ wide materials and you’ll want to move the starts over to the far right, before loading the material (see pic below.)
I cut the leather using the Heavy Duty mat to ensure that the leather wouldn’t shift at all. Once cut, then remove them from the mat.
Then it’s super simple from there. Use your leather hole punch to punch a hole in about ½″ on each side of the leather cutout. Then fold it over into a circle. Then grab your button studs and attach them like I show in the picture below!
And that’s it! Super easy! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the button studs! They’re so much easier than having to attach real buttons! Plus, they have tons of different styles for you to choose from on Amazon!
Hope you love this DIY!
I’d love you forever if you wanted to pin the image below! xoxo!
