MOTHERS DAY GIFT IDEAS
I decided this year for Mother’s Day that I wanted to make my really good friend (who is pink obsessed) some simple modern dish towels that she could put out for Spring and Summer. Making personalized dish towels for the kitchen is such an easy and affordable gift idea. You can gift them alone or if you want something a little bit more then just attach them to a simple store bought cookie kit!
Throughout my time as a blogger, I’ve heard so many time from people that they could never share the things they create online with others to judge. Being a #fearless creator to me is just being the best ME that I can be. I don’t want to be afraid to try new things just because there are far more talented people than me out there. I fail all the time! But to me, being truly Fearless means getting back up and trying things again! If you follow me, I promise you that there are better crafters, DIYeres, Bakers, Cooks, etc than me! But, what I’m really trying to do by sharing my creations online is to inspire others to do is try NEW things and I hope that I can help make that process a little easier and less scary!
CUSTOMIZED KITCHEN TOWELS SUPPLIES
If you’ve never done an Iron On project, creating customized kitchen towels is a great place to start! I created these using my Wild Rose Cricut Explore Air 2 and my Rose EasyPress 2. I shared all about the Wild Rose Cricut Explore Air 2 a few weeks ago in this post here –( I also shared a super beginner vinyl sign tutorial!)
If you’re new to Iron On, make sure and check out these posts:

Can we also talk about how pretty the New Rose EasyPress 2 is? I’m obsessed with the blush handle! It has all the same amazing Features as the main EasyPress 2, but just has a new cute color. The Rose EasyPress 2 is exclusively available on Joann Stores! Learn Everything you Need to Know about the EasyPress 2 here!
IRON ON DISH TOWELS
Now let’s get started with the tutorial:
Items Needed:
- Wild Rose Explore Air 2
- Rose EasyPress 2 Bundle — comes with the EasyPress Mat and Iron On that you’ll need.
- Blush Everyday Iron On –if you already have an EP2 or didn’t purchase the Rose EasyPress 2 Bundle
- Gold Glitter Iron On — if you already have an EP2 or didn’t purchase the Rose EasyPress 2 Bundle
- EasyPress Mat — if you don’t already have one or didn’t purchase the Rose EasyPress 2 Bundle
- Standard or LightGrip Mat
- Essential Tool Kit
- Design Space File
Tutorial:
Start by opening the Design Space File HERE.
In the Design Space File, I have a lot of different images that would be perfect if you’re including more towels than I did. Just go through the images and either hide the layer or delete the images you don’t plan on using.
Also, measure how big you want your designs and resize them and color them. By changing the colors of the image, it tells Design Space that you’ll be cutting them out of two different colors/types of Iron On and it will put them on different cutting mats.
Once everything looks ready to go, hit ‘MAKE IT’ in the top right hand corner.
Preview that both designs are placed properly on different mats and hit ‘CONTINUE’ in the bottom right hand corner.
On the above screen select your machine from the drop down menu and change your dial to Iron On for the Blush Pink Mat. Make sure that BOTH mats have mirrored both images. You ALWAYS mirror your image when cutting Iron On!
After you’ve cut the first mat (Blush Pink Design), then change your dial to Custom. Then on your Design Space Screen, select Glitter Iron On. Load your Gold Iron On mat into your machine and cut that design.
Then you’ll want to weed the excess Iron On Vinyl out from around your designs.
I also chose to use the Home Sweet Home design that came with the Rose EasyPress 2 Bundle! The bundle not only came with the super cute Rose EasyPress 2, but it also included a 12×12 EasyPress Mat and 4 cute pre-designed & cut Iron On decals, 2 sheets of Blush Everyday Iron On and 2 sheets of Gold Glitter Iron On! Enough for a few fun projects!
Once everything is weeded, it’s time to apply the design. First, pull up the Cricut Interactive EasyPress Heat Settings Guide. This guide will help you determine what heat setting to turn your EP2 to and also how long to apply heat. You need to determine the setting for both Everyday Iron On and Glitter Iron On.
Place your dish towel over the EasyPress Mat and apply heat for the recommended length.
After you apply the heat, allow the design to cool for a few seconds and remove the plastic backing.
And viola! You’re done! Repeat for all the towels!

what kind of towels did you use? name and brand
Pam Dana
These are just a Tea Towel from Target, but they are no longer being sold there! You can use pretty much any kind of towel though. I just suggest you choose one that has a smoother finish, otherwise the texture will show through the Iron On. I also like the plain Floursack towels, I usually order them off Amazon. Hope that helps!

I love the towels with the decorative edge! Where did you buy them?
Pam Dana
Just Target!!! Woohoo!
