This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Duck Brand Easy Liner. All opinions are 100% mine.

These States and Capitals Flashcards are the perfect tool to help someone learn the US States and Capitals! Download, print, laminate and learn!

A pile of flashcards that help you learn the states and capitals.

This school year my middle child is in 5th grade and he’ll be participating in a program called Give Me Liberty where they are challenged to learn things like facts about the US, the Continents, Oceans, the National Anthem, Preamble to the Constitution, Pledge of Allegiance, The Gettysburg Address and memorizing all the States and Capitals! The program is something they work towards throughout the year and they slowly pass off all the requirements!

Printable State Capital Cards

Today he is passing off some of the first and easier tasks and we decided to tackle passing off all the States and Capitals next! I decided to put together a fun set of flashcards for him and wanted to share those with you today!

Being that he is very unfamiliar with the majority of the capitals, I decided to keep all the information on one side. That way he can use them initially as more of a study tool. If needed, later on, I’ll go and create a set that has the Capital removed and we can write it on the backside of the card. I really think we can make this set work though!

Printed pages with 4 flashcards per page that have the US States and Capitals on them. One card is purple, blue, green and pink with a roll of clear laminate laying on top of the printed pages.

Items Needed:

  • Printable States Flashcards (download below)
  • Printer
  • 8.5×11 Copy Paper
  • Scissors and/or Paper Cutter
  • Duck® Brand Clear Laminate

Directions:

Download the printable(s) below. Print the pages on your Home Printer on 8.5×11 Copy Paper.

A close up picture of one page of flashcards showing Alabama, Alaska, Arizona and Arkansas states and capitals information.

Use your paper cutter or scissors to cut out all the flashcards. Being that there are 50 states, you should have 50 flashcards cutout.

How to Laminate without a Laminator

After I got them printed, I realized that he would destroy these flashcards pretty quickly if I left them just paper or cardstock. I LOVE EasyLiner® Removable Adhesive Shelf Liner and knew Duck® Brand also offered a Clear Laminate that works to cover and protect items.

I am in love friends! Duck® Brand Clear Laminate will be the perfect way solution to help protect all our Back to School items and make them last longer! It provides a protective cover over items such as flashcards, school books, certificates, and more!!

Duck® Brand Clear Laminate is removable from surfaces (not paper) and super easy to apply by just peeling the backing paper and placing it! Plus, it can easily be wiped cleaning! It comes in large rolls with a grid backing paper that makes it super easy to measure and cut to the size you’re needing!

Now, back to the flashcards! The Duck® Brand Clear Laminate will come in a large roll, so you’ll need to cut pieces to size.

A paper cutter cutting the clear laminate into appropriate sized pieces.

I started by cutting the Duck® Brand Clear Laminate into 4″ wide strips. You can use the markers that are on the backing paper or the ruler on your paper cutter.

Next, I took each 4″ strip of clear laminate and cut it into two 5″ long pieces. There will be a little leftover piece from each strip that won’t be needed.

Once it’s cut, now it’s time to cover our flashcards!

A step by step picture showing how to apply the clear laminate to each flashcard.

On a clean surface, take one of your 4″x5″ clear laminate pieces and peel the backing off. Place it with a flashcard centered in the piece. Don’t stress if it’s not perfect. We’re going to trim them up in a sec!

Use your fingers to push the laminate onto your flashcard good. Then flip it over and repeat that step by adding a piece of clear laminate onto the back.

Unless you’re magic, I’m going to assume you weren’t able to line up the two sizes perfectly! So, grab a pair of scissors and just trim up the edges to make them even and make sure no sticky portions are present!

And that’s it! Now you’re ready to use them!!

I quickly wanted to talk about the EasyLiner® Removable Adhesive Shelf Liner that Duck Brand also makes! I’ve used it to line my pantry shelves, our show drawer, and mudroom lockers! I recently saw a friend use it to cover her old IKEA desk and it completely brought a whole new life to it. It wipes down perfectly, which is super important if you’re using in areas like the mudroom or a tabletop!
