Come learn how to make this super cute Who Runs the World DIY Wood Sign using your Cricut machine and vinyl! This would be perfect in a girl heavy house, a women’s office or girls bedroom!
This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Cricut. The opinions and text are all mine.
Hey friends! Today I am excited to share this super cute sign that I made last week! I have been wanting to make this sign for a while! It will either be going in my office or my daughters room once we get settled in our new house next month!

DIY Wood Sign
Now onto this fun DIY Wood Sign – that also advocates that girls have the power to do whatever they want!
Items Needed:
- Explore Air 2 — Wild Rose Bundle
- Standard Mat
- Black Premium Removable Vinyl
- Standard Transfer Tape
- Wood Sign
- Who Runs the World Design Space File
If you order the Wild Rose Explore Air 2 Bundle, then everything you need is in it, besides the wood board that is!
Directions:
Start by getting your wooden board together. I bought mine pre-made at Hobby Lobby. But, I’ve made tons of signs in the past. It’s super easy! Once your sign is all ready then open the Who Runs the World Design Space File.
At this time resize it to fit your board! Once everything is resized, then hit ‘MAKE IT‘ in the top right hand corner.
Preview your mat to make sure everything looks right! If it doesn’t, then hit cancel and fix anything that you need to. But, this design is pretty simple, so it should load properly. If for any reason the words aren’t placed correctly, then you need to go back and select all and hit ‘attach’! Once the mat looks good, then hit ‘CONTINUE‘ in the bottom right hand corner.
Choose your machine from the drop down menu, select your material to Vinyl and you’re good to go!
Load the vinyl on your cutting machine and load it into your machine and press the ‘C’ button to start the file cutting.
The Wild Rose Explore Air 2 has all the features that all the Cricut Explore Air 2 machines have — the Cut Smart 2 system can cut 100’s of materials like vinyl, iron on, card stock, cork, bonded fabric and more! It also has the ability to cut and write at 2x the speed. You can also design on the go with your phone, ipad or computer! You can design projects using Design Space images and projects or you can upload your own files into Design Space!
Once your file is done cutting, unload your mat.
Use your gold weeding tool to weed out the excess vinyl from around the words and add standard transfer tape over the design. Use your scraper to make sure the transfer tape adheres well to your design.
I then like to use my ruler to measure around the design to make sure it is centered well on the board.
When placing any vinyl over 6″ I generally like to use tape to assist me in transferring the vinyl design straight. Once I have it where I want it, I place 2 long pieces of tape over the design — one in the center and one over one end of the design (like below).
Lift up the half of the design that isn’t taped down and peel off the vinyl backing. Once you get to the center, then I like to just cut the backing off. Then use the Gold Scraper to push the design onto the board.
Repeat for the other side.
Then remove the transfer tape carefully, making sure the vinyl is attached to the wooden sign well.
And that’s it! SO EASY, right?!? I love the simple look of this sign! I am secretly hoping this sign ends up in my office. But, I’ll happily give it up to my daughter for her room, if there’s a spot for it in there.
Now for those of you wondering, I added the hashtag FEARLESS to my Cricut® Explore Air™ 2, Wild Rose Edition Bundle. In order to be a successful stay-at-home-working-mom I believe that you have to tackle all your roles without Fear! I know that I can rock all my roles — wife, mom, business owner, friend, homemaker, etc as long as I keep the confidence and tackle all those roles without fear!
