A Movie Night Gift Basket filled with personalized tumblers, popcorn buckets, and a snack tray made using a Cricut Machine! Add in a new blanket, snacks, and a new movie and it is sure to create a fun and memorable movie night with your loved ones!

This post was sponsored by Cricut. All thoughts and opinions are 100% mine.

For the Holiday this month, I wanted to put together a fun gift basket for my family and a few of our friends! I knew this season would look a little different with so many of our annual traditions being canceled due to Covid, so I wanted to create a fun new tradition!

We do many movie nights during the Christmas season, but I thought I could enhance one of those movie nights with a fun gift basket filled with a new Christmas blanket, personalized drink tumblers, popcorn buckets, a snack tray, and snacks! We always try and watch a new Christmas movie each year, so I am going to give this to my family for that movie night!

2 popcorn buckets, a white serving tray and clear tumblers with straws.

Today I am going to show you how I customized all the fun movie night items that I purchased from Amazon using my Cricut Explore Air 2 and Permanent Premium Vinyl. I love all my Cricut machines, but where I knew I was going to have a bunch of labels, I figured I’d pull out my Cricut Explore Air 2. I also seem to default to my Cricut Explore Air 2 most of the time. It has so many capabilities and can pretty much tackle the majority of the crafting and creating I do! You can learn more about the Cricut Explore Air 2 here!

WHAT TO PUT IN THE GIFT BASKET

I started by heading to Amazon and found clear tumblers, these awesome Popcorn buckets, and a snack tray! I was originally going to do a popcorn bucket for everybody, but they were big and so I figured I’d do a bucket of buttered popcorn and a bucket for no butter popcorn! If your family is a big buttered popcorn fan, consider changing the 2nd bucket to Extra Butter! Or maybe your family is a Kettle Corn lover! My point is, don’t hesitate to change the wording to what fits your family the best!

Other ideas would be a blanket, pajamas, slippers, soda, movie snacks, and a movie night sign.

Now let’s get started!

FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT GIFT BASKET

Items Needed:

  • Cricut Explore Air 2
  • Permanent Premium Vinyl (you choose the color)
  • Standard Green Mat
  • Weeding Tool
  • Brayer (optional)
  • Transfer Tape
  • Clear Tumblers
  • popcorn buckets
  • Snack Tray
  • Movie Night Design Space File

Directions:

Pull up the Movie Night Design Space File. The design has 3 different areas of the designs — cup names, butter/no butter popcorn bucket words, and Snack Tray.

At this time you’ll want to edit any of the names/words to work for the pieces you’ll be customizing.

You’ll also want to resize the designs to fit the cups, popcorn buckets, and snack tray you purchased.

Once the design is ready to go, make sure you’ve got the correct machine selected in the top right-hand corner. As you can see in the screenshot, I have it set for the Cricut Explore Air 2. Then hit ‘MAKE IT’ in the very top right-hand corner.

It will then show you a preview of the cutting mat. At this time you can rearrange or space out your designs if needed. I did spread them out a little more, so I had plenty of room around each word to cut them out with scissors.

Then let’s get the Permanent Premium Vinyl on your Standard Green Mat! I love to use my Brayer to make sure the vinyl is on the mat well. You should most likely be able to fit everything on a 12×12 mat. Use any type of Permanent Premium Vinyl. Just make sure if you use any kind of textured Perm Vinyl to set your dial to custom and choose the type of Perm PremiumVinyl on the computer screen.

Once that mat is ready, load it into the machine and hit the green ‘CONTINUE’ button in the bottom right-hand corner! It will then cut your design using the Fine Point Blade in the machine!

After it’s cut, use the weeding tool to remove all the excess vinyl from around your designs.

When you’re done weeding, apply transfer tape to your design carefully. Use the scraper tool to ensure that the transfer tape adheres well to the design.

Before applying the designs, make sure and clean the surfaces thoroughly and dry them well. Then pull the paper backing off the design and place your design onto the surface. When working with items like cups, popcorn buckets, and plates I like to use my fingers to push the design on good.

Then carefully remove the transfer tape from the design. Make sure the designs aren’t coming up with the transfer tape. If they are, place it back down and press it down even more.

That’s it! Repeat for each item!

I am seriously so happy with how all the items turned out! I CANNOT wait to give it to my family this weekend!! I’m especially excited to see my son’s reaction when he sees that I put his nickname, Shmeff, on his tumbler! Which set is your favorite?

Washable Popcorn buckets with the words Buttered and No Butter on them and boxes of microwave popcorn in them.

5 clear tumblers with the names Dylan, Scott, Shmeff, Pamela and Nathan.

A snack tray with 4 squares and the words Salty, Sweet, Sour and Bitter in them.

To finish putting it all together, find a basket and place all the fun items into it! I also added a fun Christmas Blanket, treats, popcorn, etc! You can make this gift idea as big or little as you want! If you really want to go all out, then add new Christmas pajamas for the whole family!
