The BEST Gooey Chex Mix (also known as GORP)! This is the perfect sweet and salty treat that everyone will love! From overthebigmoon.com!

This sweet and salty Gooey Chex Mix is a delicious snack that is perfect for parties, family reunions and more! Once you start eating it, you just can’t stop! The entire family will love it!

This Gooey Chex Mix is the perfect treat -- filled with Chex, Golden Grahams, Cashews, M&M's and more! Everyone will love this! From overthebigmoon.com!

This treat is one of those treats that everyone should have on hand! It is the perfect treat for birthday parties, family reunions, movie nights, playdates, school parties, road trips, Christmas neighbor gifts – really anything! If you haven’t tried this, then it’s a must!

Also, one thing I want to note is that I have had several people after trying my Gorp tell me that they had had something similar to this that didn’t have the M&M’s. Every single one of them said it is 10x better with the M&M’s. That little bit of chocolate adds a ton!

This Gooey Chex Mix is the perfect combination fo sweet and salty and will have everyone loving it! From overthebigmoon.com!

HOW TO MAKE GOOEY CHEX MIX:

It’s super easy to make this Gooey Chex Mix! Just combine all the dry ingredients in a bowl – Chex Mix, Golden Grahams, Shredded Coconut, Cashews and Slivered Almonds into a bowl! Feel free to add any other ingredients that you love, but this is my favorite combination! Also note, you’ll want to use the BIGGEST bowl that you have – it makes a big batch!

After your dry ingredients together, then you’re going to move to the stove. In a large pot on the stove, combine the butter, sugar and Karo Syrup. Mix those 3 ingredients together and bring it to a boil and allow it to boil for 3 minutes. Then turn it to a medium heat and add in the vanilla. After you ensure that all your wet ingredients are melted together, pour over your dry mixture and mix everything together making sure that it is all evenly coated.

Then lay out a big piece of wax paper and spread the mixture over the wax paper to allow it to dry. You don’t want the mixture too thick on the wax paper or it won’t dry. So, don’t be afraid to really cover a large countertop area! I usually leave my mixture out for an hour, then if need, mix it around to expose any wet area. Then allow to sit another hour or two to finish drying.

Store in a large container or large ziplock bags.

This Sweet and Salty Chex Mix treat is a family favorite and can be customized to your liking! This recipe is one to save! From overtehbigmoon.com!

WHAT DOES ‘GORP’ STAND FOR?

GORP stands for ‘Good Old Raisins and Peanuts.’ Gorp is like the original trail mix and many people refer to this treat as GORP! We’ve just added some sweet elements, removed a few boring ingredients and finished it off with a sweet sugar coating! My family does call this treat GORP, even though it’s really not just ‘good old raisins and peanuts’ anymore! The name has just stuck!

HOW TO STORE GOOEY CHEX MIX:

I have found the best way to store the Gooey Chex Mix is in a large clear tupperware container! However, when I’m taking this on road trips or to a family reunion, I like to take it in large ziplock bags. That way I can just throw the bags away after it’s been eaten and I don’t have to worry about keeping track of the tupperware.
