These Magic Elf Moving Gloves are the solution to being able to touch your Elf! Make these adorable Magic Gloves in just 15 minutes using your Cricut machine!
Elf on the Shelf Magic Moving Gloves
This fun DIY is going to make your Elf on the Shelf Season so much better! You can let your kids use them to sporadically touch your Elf or you can use them when moving your Elf at night (make sure and check out my Quick and Easy Elf on the Shelf Ideas that take UNDER 5 Minutes)!
All you need is some red gloves and then you can enhance them however you want! I used my Cricut Machine to cut Iron On Vinyl and my EasyPress Mini to apply the Iron On Vinyl. But, you could also use Fabric Paint, Glitter Glue, Felt or even just a Sharpie!
Can you touch the Elf on the Shelf?
Technically, no! That being said, every home has different rules. The Elf on the Shelf tradition is supposed to be FUN! And if you’re stressing all the time about your kids touching the Elf, then it’s going to take the fun out of it. And let’s face it, some homes have that kid that cannot stop obsessing about, just because they’re told they cannot touch it!!
So, the solution of the Elf on the Shelf Magic Gloves is here! The gloves protect your skin from touching the Elf, so that way your Elf will not lose its magic! Now the kids can touch their Elf! However, I suggest making the Elf Magic Gloves be something special that is only allowed some of the time! Otherwise your poor Elf is going to get haggard from all the kid play! I personally let me kids touch our Elf once a week! That way it’s extra special!
What if our Elf was already touched?
No problem! Just pop over and download my Elf on the Shelf Magical Recovery Kit! This simple kit will help you restore the magic in your Elf (of course with the help of Santa). I suggest adding the Magical Gloves to your Elf Magical Recovery Kit when it shows up on your door step!

How to make the Elf Magic Gloves
Items Needed:
- Red Gloves
- Cricut Explore Air 2 or Maker
- Standard Mat
- White SportFlex Iron On
- EasyPress Mini
- EasyPress Mat
- Weeding Tool
- Magic Elf Moving Gloves Design Space File
Instructions:
Open the Magic Elf Moving Gloves Design Space File and make sure your machine is plugged in and connected to your computer (or via bluetooth).
At this time resize the design to fit your Gloves! Once sized correctly, hit ‘MAKE IT’ in the top right hand corner.
Because you’r going to be cutting the design from SportFlex Iron On, you’ll need to mirror the image at this time. Verify the preview shows the design mirrored. I also like to space the two words a little more. Once done, hit ‘CONTINUE’ in the bottom right hand corner.
Choose your machine from the drop down menu. Then set your material to SportFlex Iron On.
Apply the SportFlex Iron onto your Standard Mat shiny side down! Then load the mat into your machine. Hit the ‘C’ button on your machine when it starts flashing.
After the design has cut, use scissors to trim around the design and weed the excess vinyl from your design using your weeding tool.
Place your weeded design onto the gloves where you want it to be, on top of your EasyPress Mat. Look up your EasyPress Mini temperature on the EasyPress Heat Settings Guide. At this time, it instructed me to apply the SportFlex Iron On onto the gloves on Medium Heat for 30 seconds.
It did instruct me to Warm Peel the design, but I found allowing it to cool down more worked better. So, I suggest doing a cold peel.
And that’s it! You’re ready to go!

It originally was Baguet Script Thin italic by Melvastype, but I did adjust it in Cricut Design Space.
